An extensive work on Buddha and his doctrines. Based on the Burmese religious books and Bigandet's frequent conversations about religion amongst scholars. This second edition is greatly expanded with more information about Gautama's life as well as new details on the great intellectual processing of Gautama's mind while meditating under the Bodhi tree. Dedicated to Major A.P. Phayre, British commissioner of Burma 1862-7. Bigandet, a French Catholic missionary who came to Burma in 1837 and stayed there for most of his life.
