Geoffrey Broom joined the Royal Naval Patrol Service in 1940, trained as a signaller and from early in 1941 served in HMT Norse, a Grimsby trawler requisitioned in 1939 and converted for minesweeping, Norse was posted to the Eastern Mediterranean. Two years later Norse's crew waited replacement and as a spare signaller he was attached to a unit sent to the island of Leros, was captured by the Germans and served the remainder of the war in Stalag XIA in Germany (Marlag und Milag Nord) as a POW, lightly rubbed at tips, dustwrapper: lightly rubbed at tips with tiny repaired nick at head of spine, near fine in a very good dustwrapper,
