Extended Publisher's announcement in manuscript to title-page. Original printed wrappers frayed, various old institutional stamps to cover and title-page. In a very good internal condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. Unique copy which bears on title-page the Publisher's legal ownership declaration, written in manuscript and signed. It identifies him as the lawfull publisher of this book. Submitted for notarial authorization at the District Court of Amsterdam, the declaration reads: "De ondergeteekende, wonende te Amsterdam, verklaart dat dit werk "Transvaalsche Herinneringen" door Dr. E. J. P. Jorissen, den 2den October 1897 door hem is uitgegeven en op zijne alhier gevestigde drukkerij is gedrukt." Signed "JH de Bussy, Amsterdam, 13 October '97". Also on the title-page is the large notarial authorization stamp with the data entered in manuscript in the corresponding fields: "Geregistreerd de Amsterdam, den Zestiende October 1800 zeven en negentig (.). Ontvangen voor recht een gulden twintig cent (.)." Another legal stamp which adorns the title-page is that of the Municiplaity of North Holland which gives evidence to further official charge, that of 100 cents. ~ Eduard Johan Pieter Jorissen (1829-1912). 004-6 .
