CHUBB, Ralph - Autumn Leaves. Two Fragments. Written, illustrated, and lithographed by Ralph Chubb in his woodland studio at Fair Oak Cottage, Ashford Hill, near Newbury, Berkshire.

Autumn Leaves was compiled by his literary and pictorial successor, Anthony Reid, from the leaves that Chubb left after his death. There was enough for 39 copies in three states, counting resp. 17, 15 and 12 lithographs each. This is one of the state with 12 lithographs, consisting of text with a large human (or animal) figure in the margin, printed in black on 6 leaves. Plus an illustrated title page and an introduction by Anthony Reid, comprising a colophon. A plea for freedom, a philosophical story about mankind in the form of an innocent child - but only a fragment of Chubb's planned masterpiece, The Child of Dawn.
