Many score fine black-and-white engravings augment this sturdy, attractive, tightly bound, internally clean hardcover copy, with bruised but unbroken tips, neat and tidy blue card-stock paste-downs; not ex-library, with neither highlighting nor underlining. A First Edition copy bound in the publisher's original green cloth, elaborately decorated in darker green and lettered in gilt. Spine wrinkled, bumping to and scuffing of spine and two small punch-holes at spine bottom, cracking to gutter between pp. 822 and 823, else tightly bound and stands tall on its own. One of the leading English literary and art magazines of its day, publishing poets, painters, novelists and literary critics, including Balch and Crawford, James and Molesworth and especially W. Outram Tristram. This volume covers 1887-1888 and contains, among other works, Tristram's voluminous "Coaching Days and Coaching Ways," "The Mediation of Ralph Hardelot," by William Minto, complete and serialized, "The Story of Jael," by S. Baring-Gould, a novella in three parts. Short stories are plentiful, including "Family Portraits," by Stanley J.
