Though undated, Medina places it in the early part of the 19th century (whereas BN Peru places it in 1790s and BN Chile dates it 1801). Joseph Antonio Ceballos y Calderón, the son of Doña Juana Calderon and Gaspar Ceballos, then Regent of the College of San Carlos, discusses the development of his life, which began in privilege.
