(Peckham, Joshua [d. 1858]; and Duley, John Henry [1835-1864]). - The Gal in Blue! [Broadside Song Sheet].

 1548902987,
Salem, Massachusetts: Joshua Peckham, [between 1852 and 1858]. [1858]. [1858]. - A 9-1/2 inch high by 6-1/2 inch wide broadside song sheet with the lyrics of the minstrel song "The Gal in Blue!" centered beneath the bold title within a formal decorated frame. The lyrics of the three stanzas and chorus, written in dialect, begin "I met a pretty yaller gall, her name I do not know, / I meet her every evening, no matter where I go, / She swings de fancy handkerchief that sparkes like the dew, / You'd know her if you seen her, she's always dressed in blue.." To which the chorus responds "She'll set dis darkey crazy, I don't know what to do, / If I can't get dat pretty gal dat I saw dressed in blue. / She'll set dis darkey crazy, I don't know what to do, / If I don't get dat pretty gal dat I saw dressed in blue." The publisher's credits are centered below the lyrics. The song sheet is toned with some heavy dampstaining. Good. The song sheet is "Published by permission of John H. Duley, of Perham's Opera Troupe". Perham is possibly the same person as Josiah Perham of the "Ethiopian Troupe and Great Burlesque Company", a blackface troupe. Good .
