Launched in June 1850 by the New York City publisher Harper & Brothers, it is the second-oldest continuously published monthly magazine in the U.S. Each volume features hundreds of illustrations. Former owner's name neatly stamped on first blank preliminary page (Wm. B. Sherman); moderately worn, front hinge sprung, else fine; unmarked, text block tight, square, and clean. VERY GOOD.
