Brown covers with rubbed edges and corners, gilt lettering on the front, black taped spine has tear at the top and remains of adhesive label near the base. Sound binding with some separation between front end-paper and half-title and between illustration list and Introduction, library plates for "Library of Emily C Haff, Oshkosh, Wis," on inside of front cover and "The Paine Art Centre and Arboretum, Oshkos, Wisconsin" on front end-paper, small water stain on edge of margin of frontis etching. Pages are a little age-darkened and page edges are untrimmed.
