Octavo tan half calf with green cloth sides; spine with gilt library name and number (leather edges rubbed/hinges cracked but covers well attached/spine lacking most of spine title label but blind iumpression of title remains) xvi (incl.frontis & titlepage with large vignettwe +Preface +contents) +516pp with errata slip tipped in after p466 as called for. Bookplate of S.R.[ie Stan Robinson] to pastedown & sm.stamp "Robinson Collection" to both pastedowns and the blank versos of most of the chromos and two of the maps also only on the blank back. The Robinson collection is part of the Knowsley Library and the latter's heraldic device is gilt to foot of spine. The interesting text is well printed and is crisp and clean.
