No Place, No Publisher, 1960. Unbound. Ephemera related to Lewis Bertrand and his candidacy for the presidency of the United States of America in 1960. Two pieces. Single sheets, folded once, making four pages each. The first, bearing a photo of Lewis Bertrand, solicits a write in vote for Bertrand as a candidate for president in the 1960 election, running on the platform of settling with Russia. Bertrand provides a brief synopsis of his belief in conciliatory talks with Russia to avoid a conventional war or protracted Cold War. The second piece outlines the concept and platform of a 'Mankinds Assembly,' outlining goals for peace through the establishment of a permanent peace congress, independent, but concomitant with the United Nations. Peace between Russia and the United States figure heavily into the outline. Online searches yielded no information on Bertrand or the Mankinds Assembly. GOOD condition. Red date stamps at the top of each piece. Vertical fold creases present, with other creasing and wrinkling present. Minor toning to the paper. Rust stains, perhaps from staples, present to the write in vote piece. Good .
