- Bible - Le Nouveau Testament C'est a dire La Nouvelle Alliance de nostre Seigneur Jesus-Christ.

Charenton , Amsterdam, Estienne Lucas ; Pierre Brunel, 1678. Unpaginated double column Bible, finely bound in near contemporary full dark red crushed morocco, spine decorated in blind and with raised bands, marbled endpapers, with finely pierced metal monogramed initials in ornate pattern on upper and lower board, tiny chips to head and foot of spine, but a very good bright example. Bookplate from John Grubb, (1652–1708) who was a two-term member of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly and was one of the original settlers in a portion of Brandywine Hundred that became Claymont, Delaware. This version of the French Geneva series was often reprinted, this copy dated 1678 underneath the booksellers label of Pierre Brunel, Amsterdam. The first printing was 1658, with Lucas' Paris imprint, a different setting, and a larger format to this one. But the beautifully crafted metalwork of this binding, in the form of intricate initials on both side, is a lovely example of this practice, which is often seen on prayer books and Bibles, but usually damaged or missing .
