Publisher's original dark brown cloth, lettered in gilt in Japanese on the spine and in English on the front cover, original clear glassine dust jacket in the original card slipcase lettered in black on the spine and front cover, lg 8vo. The text is in Japanese with Latin names used throughout and some English terms appear in tables. The bibliography is mostly in English and there are two indexes in English - one is for ecological and other terms and the second is an index to authors. From the research library of ornithologist Oliver L. Austin (past Director of the Austin Ornithological Research Center in Wellfleet, Massachusetts and past Curator of Ornithology at the Florida Museum of Natural History), with his rectangular Japanese/English name-stamp seal on the front endpaper. Laid in at front is a typewritten document that presents the complete table of contents translated into English by Kuroda. Attached to this is a handwritten note from the author ""Dr. O. L. Austin with the compliments of Nagahisa Kuroda."" A fine (as new) copy in a near fine slipcase..
