Zynovii Knysh (1906 - 1999) was a Ukrainian author, publisher, and political activist. He was arrested and sent to prison in the 1930s for being a leading member of the Ukrainian Military Organization (UVO), and later, when it became part of Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) - leader in charge of OUN's combat activities. Knysh spent time in DP camps in Austria beyween 1944 and 1946, before emigrating and settling in Canada. He authored more than 60 works, most on UVO and OUN, including the current book, which was published as a stand-alone volume in the "Sribna surma" (The Silver Bugle) series. .
