Signed by the author on the half-title page. Volodymyr Galan, aka Walter Gallan (1893 - 1978) was a Ukrainian-American author and social activist. He served in the Austrian Army during the First World War and, later, commanded a unit in the Ukrainian-Galician Army, known as The Battery of Death. After emigrating to the US in 1923, he established the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and founded the United Ukrainian Veterans of America. He was also the founder, executive director, and president of the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee. His current book contained his personal narrative of his time in the army. Very good .
