ABERCROMBIE Patrick & JOHNSON T H - The Doncaster Regional Planning Scheme. The Report Prepared for the Joint Committee by... Together with an Appendix on Coal Subsidence by Joseph Humble.

Liverpool, Liverpol UP, 1922. xxii, 93pp+ 23 plates (incl colour), plan in 4 sections at end and incl text illustrations. 32x26, publisher's card wraps. Spine frayed with missing pieces, else a very good copy. A rare and important early Abercrombie plan. Doncaster was the first British Regional Planning Scheme to be prepared (a previous project in South Wales being more in the nature of a Regional Survey). Abercrombie had come to prominence following his ground-breaking "Dublin of the Future" Plan (seen as the first modern plan for a city region). Doncaster was a rapidly expanding coal mining district and Abercrombie's designs for new mining settlements are included. T. H. Johnson was a Doncaster architect and surveyor. An outstanding item.
