The covers are quite rubbed and soiled. 300 pages, with 83 full-page illustrations and 11 engraved plates, mostly portraits. The binding is cracked at page 130. Else, good.

First edition. Rare.

This is the first volume of an eventual three. Volumes 2 and 3 were laterpublished in 1912 and 1913. Good .
