In 1955 three female mountaineers, two of them wrote this book, set out to find a way through the lower gorges to the glacier valleys of the Jugal Himal on the Nepali-Tibetan border. Another aim was to check and correct the only existing map of the area. They made the ascent of an unknown peak of over 22000 feet and named it Gyalgen Peak after their chief Sherpa. Neate J04.
