Rare collection of a literary series published by the pioneer of modern Hebrew publishing. Abr. Shalkovich (1867-1921), Russian Hebrew author, settled in Warsaw in 1891 and started a new medium of spreading Hebrew literature with the {Sifrei Agurah} (the "one penny") series of attractive and reasonably priced booklets. In 1893 he set up the Achiasaf publishing house and published the {Luach Achiasaf}. In 1896 he started a new publishing house Tushiyyah, publishing several series of literature, of which the {Bibliotheka Ivrit} was the largest and most successfull. See Enc. Jud. 14, p. 1268-1269.
