- Petition of John Baptisto Baratty to Thomas, Earl of Effingham (1714-1763).

Wrappers. Petitioner is the descended from an ancient family of the Grisons (GraubŁnden) in Switzerland, and married to Mary, the daughter of Jacob Poole and granddaugher of John Poole. He lives in the City of London as a merchant for thirty years. The petitioner prays his Lordship's warrant to the Kings of Arms concerned for devising granting and confirming to him and his descendants such arms and crest as he and they may lawfully bear and use. Dated12 april 1753. Manuscript, 6 pp. 24,5x38 cm. With handpainted coat of arms and extended description of the heraldic elements, and the names of John Anstis, principal King of Arms, and Stephen Martin Leake, Clarenceux, King of Arms.Contemporain marbled wrappesr (loose).
