Operating as a theatre from 1845 until 1921, The building has since been converted numerous times for use as a cinema, bingo hall and nightclub. Walter Montgomery (1827–1871) was an American-born British actor, real name Richard Tomlinson.born at Gawennis, Long Island. He played in London, and in Bath, Bristol, Birmingham, Norwich, and Great Yarmouth where he became a favourite.
