Small tabloid newspaper format. 8 pp. The American Female Guardian Society was formed in 1834 by a group of Protestant women concerned for the welfare of poor and "indigent" women, hoping to guide them away from prostitution, through education and employment opportunities. They issued this paper to provide news and educational topics. This issue looks at Caroline Chisholm and her work in Australia to help women; several articles and religious/moral pieces on parenting; news of the organization, etc. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Paper torn along the spine, about half its height. Moderate browning, some foxing, soiling and minor staining. Creasing and wrinkling to the paper. Good .
