Old inscription on front paste down. Second edition (first 1588) of this important work on the Ottoman empire, one of the few sources to be available to Europeans of the time. Löwenklau travelled throughout Turkey for about three years from 1582, learned Turkish and later established himself in Vienna. The original manuscript of this history called "Saadeddin" by Muhammed ibn Hasanhan was brought from Constantinople by Hieronymus Beck in 1551.
