He accompanied the king to Poltava and Bender in 1709 and was later sent to Constantinople as legation preacher. For a few years he travelled extensively in the Near and Middle East. He visited Egypt, Arabia, Palestine and Syria, studying mainly the ecclesiastical and political conditions in those countries. Eneman wrote journals and letters now stored at Upsala University Library and the National Archives. Almost 200 years later Uno Nylander published this work based on the manuscripts, for the International Congress of Orientalists in Stockholm 1889. Callmer, In Orientem pp. 23-31.
