A momentous work giving a new approach to the education of deaf-mute children. Czech's system of communication combined elements of the tonal speech technique developed by Heinecken with the sign language of the famous Abbé de l'Epée. The beautiful plates depicting numerous objects and actions were designed by Czech to provide an effective, simple method by which the teacher could communicate complicated ideas to the student. Czech was professor at the famous Wiener-Taubstummen-Institut. Baker Collection 198. Guyot & Guyot p. 18.
