Tyra Kleen (1874-1951), Swedish artist and author, was educated in Germany and Paris and spent many years travelling abroad. She illustrated her own travel accounts. This work devoted to temple dancers in Bali describes the different kinds of dances (Legong, Tjalong Arong and Djoged), their history and background, the costumes and the music. The text is accompanied by plates depicting clothes, head garments, dancing movements, and musicians. Including twenty-one beautiful plates of dancers with exquisite colourful adornments.
