London, R.Brimley Johnson, 1901; 16mo; [vi], 74 pp. with frontispiece; publisher's vellum, leather labels on spine and on front board, t.e.g.; boards soiled, with a burnmark on the front board and a small stain on the rear board, spine label bably chipped, with loss. This copy is No. 1 of the edition on Japanese vellum - with the title-page vignette, initials and numerals printed in red, and was originally presented to the Victorian artist George Frederick Watts, who is thanked by the publishers in a printed note on the first page "for his kindness in allowing them to reproduce his picture of "Love and Life" as frontispiece": the intricate pictorial bookplate of the artist, Watts, is mounted on the front paste-down.
