- Baby Shoe with Amelia Earhart's Signature (and That of Three Other Aviators)

1935. Leather-bound. This is an actual white leather baby shoe, not a book. SIGNATURES Amelia Earhart Roscoe Turner; Frank Hawks (aka "Meteor Man"); (Later-to-become Admiral) R.E. Byrd (VERY faint, above bottom seam, down and to the left of Earhart's signature) Shoe is nested in a decorative, hinged, wooden box, with what appears to be a moulded (heavy) nickel(?)-plated rectangle affixed to top. Envelope affixed to inside box lid with sundry clippings and a few notes on possible sites for these air shows, which most likely all took place in Arizona. Provenance: Inside is a hand-printed note that reads: "Sheila Jansen, Born 1921. Age between 13 and 16 when [shoe was] signed, [which, given Ms. Earhart's 1937 journey of no return, would "guesstimate" the years of signing somewhere within 1934-1937-ish. We don't know if they were signed at the same airshow (possible, but unlikely).] Liked airplanes so she went to air shows. Became a Rosie The Riveter in WWII. Favorite plane was the GB". Very Good .
