Text volume in 4to and plate volume in folio. Pp. viii, 324; 23 + 68 engraved plates. Contemporary half green morocco on marbled covered boards, flat spines decorated in gilt and with title labels, lightly rubbed. Bookplate (Ericsberg). Small marginal loss to labels. Uncut copy. A beautiful copy of the first French edition of Strutt's work on the costumes, armour and social life of medieval inhabitants of the British Isles, first published 1774-76.
