Pp. (xii), 346. Later marbled boards, silk cloth spine lettered in gilt. A French edition translated from the German (Bern 1771). Baron Haller (1708-77) was a famous Swiss scientist and poet who published three philosophical romances, of which this is one. It is an utopian story taking place in a fictional Persia and Haller constructs an ideal system of political values based on eastern theories rather than typical western values.
