Pages i to vi are title pages etc., pages vii to xviii are an Appreciation by John Drinkwater, a Preface by Lovat Fraser, and an introduction etc. 93 pages, 8 plates in colour, numerous vignettes, head & tail-pieces in black & white. First written about 1730, this version uses the text of the 1765 edition "To which is Prefixed the Musick to each Song." 10" x 6¼". No d./w. Yellow board covers with black cloth spine, green paper panel on front with title & author. Orange-brown paper label on spine with title, author & publisher. Corners worn & bumped, bottom of spine & bottom edges scuffed, short neatly written name & date 1922 on top of front endpaper, and tiny book label of Blackwells bottom of f.e.p., o./w. near fine. Endpapers slightly, faintly browned. A row of tiny holes on black cloth spine, along back hinge on the outside, possibly from silverfish or moths? Yellow boards, green label, brown label are all still bright. 1921
