While primarily centered around his travels in New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, Sherman also recounts his trip to Darien, Georgia. Upon his arrival he contends it is a wicked and blasphemous city with little religion. Sherman also provides his impressions of the enslaved people and slavery in Georgia, recounting the brutal whipping of one enslaved person and the conversation with another older enslaved person, who briefly mentions his former life in England.
