A fetching little volume indeed, and quite scarcely available to the trade; O.C.L.C. locates only one copy in America at U.C.L.A., one copy in Canada and two copies in The Netherlands. Only a single volume is currently available on-line. Bound quite handsomely in contemporary full vellum binding with gilt design and gilt lettering on the spine, stamped into a burgundy leather label. Half-inch split to front joint at bottom, else remarkably stiff and sturdy. Colonia is the stated place of publication, but other sources say Venice. 206 pp. First Edition in Italian of the most famous work of Erasmus of Rotterdam. This work was translated probably by Raffale Pastore, known as a translator of various Greek and Latin classics. The book feels marvelous in the hand. I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get taken to and from book fairs, and so on. Most orders will ship within one to two business days, but often times, they will go out on the same day as they are ordered. I've based my shipping costs on the assumption of books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized (extra thick, extra long, etc.), I may contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Bubble mailers and boxes will be expertly and securely wrapped and monitored. Please contact us if there is anything extra or different you need us to do.
