SIMMONDS, P.L. [Peter Lund]. - The Animal Food Resources of the Different Nations, with mention of some of the special dainties of various people ...London, Spon 1885. Octavo publisher's red cloth (this a bit darkened); 461pp. ¶ First (only?) edition and a much more serious effort than his cursory 'Curiosities of Animal Food' (1859). Mr Simmonds made a speciality of serious books that will outrage the animal liberationists and vegans. He has outdone himself here. This is an encyclopaedia of what and how virtually every living creature (and their various spawn) on the planet can be, and has been, ingested. After a general introduction and chapter on cannibalism, we eat our way through the mammals of the world (including our own marsupials), birds, eggs, reptiles, fish, molluscs, insects and radiata, without missing leeches and worms. Much of local and Pacific interest of course. AUD 200.00 [Appr.: EURO 123.5 | CHF 118] N°. du livre 4654vous est proposé par:
