Onatskyi, Ievhen - U Vavilonskomu Poloni (Spomyny)

Buenos Aires, s. n. 1948. Presumed first edition (1948 to title page, 1949 to front wrap); 7 1/2 x 5 1/4; pp. 3-131; olive wraps, printed in black and ruled with an intricate border; sun-tanning to margins and a few minor spots to wraps; a chip with small loss of paper to tail of spine; very faint stamps from a Ukrainian youth organization and an inscription to front wrap and title page; in good condition. Ievhen Onatskyi (1894 - ?) was a Ukrainian author, member of the Ukrainian Central Rada, librarian of the Kiev Municipal Museum, and member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Paris Peace Conference. He was also with the Ukrainian diplomatic service in Italy and taught at the University of Rome until 1943, when he was arrested by the Gestapo. He immigrated to Argentina in 1947, where he continued writing and researching Ukrainian cultural heritage. His current work, one of his earlier ones, was a personal narrative of WWII. Good .
