The first trade edition of this work, an anthology of fables edited by Walter Jerrold. An extensive volume with numerous fables, including some classics such as 'A Frog and a Mouse', 'The Use of Knowledge,' and 'A Hen and Golden Eggs&apos. Illustrated by the noted British artist Charles Robinson in text throughout, as well as with twenty-eight full page coloured plates. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's full cloth binding with decorative gilt to the front board and spine. Externally rather worn with shelf wear and chipping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, minor marking to the rear board. The front joint is slightly strained, holding firm. The volume slightly tender. With a light foxing scattered throughout, particularly to the first and last few leaves. Illustrated by the noted British artist Charles Robinson in text throughout, as well as with twenty-eight full page coloured plates. Collated, complete.  Good . Ill.: Charles Robinson. Good .
