Bookplate of Elizabeth Sherman Cameron (1869-1944), the wife of U.S. Senator J. Donald Cameron, to the front paste down. Elizabeth Cameron lived as an expatriate in Paris during the First World War, where she ran a "Foyer aux Refugies" to aid refugees from Belgium and France. A novel written in the original French by René Maizeroy (1856-1918), a French novelist, best known for Les Deux Amies. René Maizeroy was a pseudonym used by Baron René-Jean Toussaint. This novel is now scarce to see. In a quarter morocco binding. Externally fairly smart, with shelf wear to the extremities and rubbing to the joints. Internally, firmly bound.
