"Andrew Kennedy Hutchison Boyd (1825–1899) was a Church of Scotland minister and author whose relatively light ministerial duties allowed him the time to develop his skill as a writer. "He wrote articles for Fraser's Magazine, which were eventually published in three series as The Recreations of a Country Parson (1859, 1861, and 1878), and ran into many editions. His writings were also immensely popular in the United States, where the 1861 series of The Recreations went through twenty editions. "Despite finding writing difficult and even painful, he wrote prodigiously, a mixture of essays, sermons, and reminiscences" - ODNB. Bound in half-leather with gilt lettering and decoration, and marbled paper-covered boards. The inner hinges are very slightly strained but still good and firm. There is only very mild wear to the extremities, with just very mild rubbing and bumping. The binding is tight and firm. Internally the pages are generally bright with some spots to the first and last few pages. There are notes and underlining in pencil prominent to the first third. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
