The first edition of this uncommon work in the publisher's original paper wraps. Robert Seymour Bridges (1844-1930) was Poet Laureate from 1913 to 1930. He achieved literary fame late in life, and influenced a select circle. His Christian faith underpinned much of his poetry, and makes an appearance in this speech, alongside philosophical contemplations, concerning the education of workers. The Workers' Educational Association, founded in 1903, is the UK's largest voluntary provider of adult education, delivering learning throughout England and Scotland.
