He wrote numerous works on the history of the city of London, as well as fiction works.A new edition of this work, which first appeared in three volumes in 1882.Illustrated with twelve plates by Fred. Barnard. Collated, complete.Thirty-two pages of publisher's advertisements have been bound to the rear.With a gift inscription that reads, 'Harold Hartley, with best Christmas wishes love from E J B, 1884&apos. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is a little faded as to be expected, with some slight bumping to the head and tail. Presentation inscription to the half-title. Internally, binding has failed on occasion, with the title page and page following loose, as are some gatherings as a result of poor binding.
