A detailed local history focusing on the Birkenhead Priory, the oldest standing building on Merseyside. The site comprises the medieval remains of the priory itself, the priory chapter house, and the remains of St Mary's church, all three of which are recorded in the National Heritage List for England. With additional details of the Mersey Ferry service operating on the River Mersey which has been running under various routes since at least the twelfth century. Written by Ronald Stewart-Brown, a British genealogist and historian. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor fading to the spine.
