Jean-Nicolas Bouilly was a French playwright, librettist, children's writer. Some of Bouilly's work has been used as the basis to operas. For example his Leonore was used by Beethoven for his opera Fidelio. In a half calf binding. Externally, smart with rubbing to the joints and extremities. Some light rubbing to the spine, particularly to the spine label. Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the recto of the front free-endaper and to the verso of the front endpaper, Annie Hood and Mademoiselle A Hood January 30th 1841. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting throughout, heavier to the first and last few pages Good . Ill.: None. Good .
