Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist. In original cloth binding, green variant with blind stamping to boards and the title and authors name gilt stamped to spines. First edition, with half titles. William Harrison Ainsworth was a well known historical novelist during the nineteenth century. He originally trained as a lawyer, but soon found his calling in writing novels. His bibliography is extensive with a stream of 39 novels. In a full green cloth binding with gilt stamping to spine. Externally, smart with some bumping to the head and tail of spines as well as to the extremities. Library plate to front pastedowns, W H Smith and Sons Subscription Library.
