Ponting, a British photographer and member of the Terra Nova expedition with Captain Scott. Ponting had a particular fondness for Japan, and took thousands of photographs of the area during his many travels to the region. In Lotus-Land Japan captures the country across all four seasons and includes Tokyo Bay, fortune tellers and 'The Great Volcanoes', all produced within the backdrop of the impending Russo-Japanese war. A scarce facsimile of this illustrated work.
