He is best known for discovering the earliest known list of New Testament books, the Muratorian fragment. This touching biography was penned by his nephew, who is best known for this work. He was assisted in writing this volume by autobiographical memoirs written by Muratori himself. From the library of the Travellers Club, with their label to the front paste down, and an ink inscription and stamp to the recto of the front free. Presented to the Travellers Club by George Vivian Esq. Vivian was a topographical artist known for his Spanish landscapes and beautiful depictions of views from Italian gardens. In 1824 during a journey to the Near East he encountered Lord Byron. His extensive library was put up for sale in 1875. In a quarter morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the leather. Some light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Library label to the front paste down.
