As well as narrating the discovery of birds such as the Little Bittern and the Black-Necked Grebe, Lodge also recounts the kindness and hospitality of strangers in this ornithological travelogue. In 1895, the ornithologist, photographer, and painter received the first medal ever presented for nature photography by the Royal Photographic Society.Two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. Undated, dated by copies held by the British library. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally excellent with very minimal edge wear.
