Written under Scott's pseudonym Jedediah Cleishbotham, described as schoolmaster and parish-clerk of Gandercleugh. Sir Walter Scott was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright, poet and historian. His famous works include 'Waverley', 'Ivanhoe' and 'The Lady of the Lake&apos. Scott was also a prominent member of the Tory party in Scotland, and served a the long term President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Through his friend James Ballantyne, who founded a printing press in the Scottish Borders, Scott was able to publish his first poetical works, bringing them to the public attention. His works gained much success both in the U.K and across Europe. Many of the German translations of his works we set to music by the composer Franz Shubert. Complete in four volumes.
