Two pleasing special volumes of Virtue and Co's 'Art Annuals', including articles exploring the life and work of many notable artists. These scarce annuals stem off of the publisher's fine arts magazine, 'The Art Journal&apos. The publisher George C. Virtue selected accomplished artists and the best engravers for his publications, producing books that were rarely surpassed in elegance for the period. Bound in the publisher's very smart decorative cloth. Comprising the following, both richly decorated with etchings, engravings and numerous other illustrations:The Life and Work of Marcus Stone, R. A.; Sir E. J. Poynter, P. R. A.; W. Q. Orchardson, R. A; The Work of Walter Crane; The Life and Work of Lady Butler; Peter Graham, R. A; and the Decorative Art of Sir E. Burne-JonesThe Life and Work of J. C. Hook, R. A.; Rosa Bonheur; Briton Riviere, R. A.; Hubert Herkomer, R. A.; W. Holman Hunt; Luke Fildes, R. A.; and G. F. Watts, R. A. Uniformly bound in the original decorative cloth. Externally, very smart, with slight rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound, with pages 13-16 detached but present to 'J. C. Hook etc' and a couple leaves detached but present to 'Marcus Stone etc&apos.
