A collection of short stories featuring Coniston, a village and civil parish in the Westmorland and Furness district of Cumbria, England. The stories weave together local legends and the rich history of this region, with titles such as: The Great Circle, Of the Mines in the Mountains, and The Bow in the Cloud, amongst others. Written by William Gershom Collingwood, an English author, artist, antiquary and professor of Fine Arts at University College, Reading. A long-term resident of Coniston, he was President of the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian Society and the Lake Artists' Society. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
