Third edition of The Life of Mrs. Godolphin by John Evelyn in the original cloth binding. A scarce edition of this work published by John W Parker and Son. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece portrait. Collated, complete. Margaret Godolphin was a Maid of Honour to Anne Hyde and later to the Queen. She was mentored by the English writer and diarist John Evelyn. In honour of his friendship with the young woman, Evelyn produced a 'masterpiece' of religious biography after her death during childbirth. Now first published and edited by Samuel Lord Bishop of Oxford. In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The spine label is slightly worn. The hinges are strained but firm.
